Time Traveller: Skating on Mystery Lake in North Vancouver

The tiny lake on Mount Seymour is better known now as a summer swimming hole, but apparently folks in the 1940s liked to skate on it too

Just south of Mystery Peak on Mount Seymour lies Mystery Lake. Not so much of a mystery for these skaters in the 1940s, whose footwork has been captured in the Enqvist family photo collection.

Harold Enqvist Sr. is known for building the first ski run on the mountain and being a part of the founding of the Mount Seymour Ski Club in 1936.

Today Mystery Lake is more known for swimming and hiking in the summer months. Explore more of the North Shore mountains in our MONOVA exhibit: Found in the Mountains!
