Time Traveller: Sunbathing on a North Vancouver roof, 1908

These dapper folks are catching some rays on a Lower Lonsdale roof, right across from McMillian's General Store

Here is a photo taken by Albert Elliot in 1908 of some friends sunbathing and people-watching atop Junction Block. The building was the home of Elliott & Baglow Photo Studio, which is now Keith Jack Studios.

The well-dressed fellow is Jack Device. Behind him is McMillian’s General Store, as well as the spot where Aberdeen Block would be built in 1910.

Jack’s wife Sybil Device is pictured laying out on a comfy makeshift chair out in the sun. Learn more about this area by joining us for the Lower Lonsdale Walking Tours on Thursdays at MONOVA.
