From the early-mid 1900s, local ski clubs ruled the mountains on the North Shore. One of those clubs was the Noseeums, who built and ran the Kandahar downhill race on Grouse Mountain.

Here is a photo of their cabin, taken by Cameron P. McDonald, an early member of the club. The cabin was constructed in the summer and fall of 1933, with additions added in 1935.

The cabin was named after the midge-like flies known as no-see-ums that are rampant on the mountain during the summer months and swarmed the men while they were building.
