One of the largest businesses on Burrard Inlet was once Evans, Coleman and Evans, who produced fuel and cement.
In North Vancouver the company had a cement plant at 231 Esplanade in 1958, with the CN Rail passing straight through the plant, Horne’s Shingle Mill, and Eslha7an. The company also had a dock in Vancouver on the foot of Columbia Street.
In the late 1960s Ocean Cement Company bought the business, and sometime between then and 1980 the city filled in the waterfront lots to build Waterfront Park.
