The original North Vancouver District Fire Hall No.1 was located at the corner of Mountain Highway and Lynn Valley Road where a gas station is today. Back then, a fire alarm would be telephoned into the post office or hardware store for someone to sound the siren.
Upon the siren, the all-volunteer brigade would rush towards the station to find out where they needed to go to fight the fire. Many of the volunteers were teamsters at the local sawmills.
The firemen would have to haul the fire hose to the fire, a difficult feat if having to go to Upper Lynn!
