One man has been arrested and is likely to face charges after a high-profile police incident in North Vancouver, Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to the 100 block of Takaya Place, a residential cul-de-sac near Crown and Orwell streets, after a report of an assault inside a residence, according to Const. Mansoor Sahak, North Vancouver RCMP spokesperson.
“Once officers arrived, they were met with unco-operative individual who it was reported could potentially have weapons inside the house,” said Sahak said.
The responding officers fell back and called in a specialized unit including the heavily-armed Emergency Response Team and police dog services.
Within about an hour, officers had arrested the suspect without anyone having been injured, Sahak said.
He has since been released but the RCMP is recommending the Crown lay charges.
The incident does bear a striking resemblance to one that happened on the same block in November 2023, albeit at a different house, Sahak acknowledged. Sahak could not say if the same suspect was involved.
