North Vancouver RCMP appeal for return of stolen urn

North Vancouver RCMP are pleading for the return of an irreplaceable item – an urn containing the cremated remains of a widow’s husband.

The RCMP received numerous reports of vehicle break-ins on Saturday morning from the 500 block of West 21st Street in North Vancouver. Among them was a from the owner of a white Kia Forte, which had the urn in it.

The stolen urn has a date of 09-09-09, according to police.

Officers carried out extensive inquiries around the neighbouhrood and issued a press release on Monday, appealing to the public to help locate the stolen urn.

“Obviously, this is something of a great sentimental value to the owner and we are hoping the perpetrator will do the right thing and return it,” said Const. Mansoor Sahak, spokesperson for the North Vancouver RCMP.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the urn or has seen it is asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
