A section of Vancouver's seawall in Stanley Park are closed this weekend, according to the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.
In a post on social media, the parks board says the seawall between Third Beach and Prospect Point is closed.
"This section will remain closed until conditions stabilize and it is deemed safe for public access," reads a post.
The reason for the concern is the thawing of the ground occurring right now. After being frozen for a while, the ground thawing out and may become unstable.
"Anticipated shifts in temp could impact slope stability in the area," states the parks board in the post.
Those walking through the park are asked to detour along paths through the Stanley Park forest along Avison Trail, Prospect Point Trail, Bridle Path, and Rawlings Trail.
No date for the reopening of the seawall has been published.
⚠️ A reminder that the seawall from Third Beach-Prospect Point remains closed this weekend.
