The RCMP is calling on the public's help as they continue to search for a missing Alberta man whose vehicle was found abandoned at a North Vancouver mall parking lot in January.
Jarrett Shane Whitford, 32, of Edmonton, Alta., was last seen in Hope, B.C. on Sept. 19, 2020, where he stopped to fuel his vehicle en route to North Vancouver.
Police later found the vehicle Whitford was driving – a light grey coloured 2015 Nissan Micra displaying Alberta licence plates – abandoned at the Capilano Mall parking lot on Jan. 21, 2021.
Police believe Whitford travelled from Hope to North Vancouver on Sept. 29, 2020.
Cpl. Mike Rail, spokesman for the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment RCMP, said police and family were concerned for Whitford’s well-being.
“Evidence gathered at this stage of our search does not point toward a criminal act,” he said in a release.
“Investigators are reaching out to folks in the Capilano area of North Vancouver who may have knowledge that will assist police in locating Mr. Whitford to contact police.”
Whitford is described as a Caucasian male with brown hair and hazel eyes. He stands six-foot and weights 189 pounds.
RCMP urges anyone with knowledge as to the whereabouts of Jarrett Shane Whitford to contact their local police agency or, should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
