A North Vancouver woman has died after her truck collided with a semi truck in Saskatchewan, police say.

At around 8:50 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 20), Wynyard RCMP received a report of a collision on Highway 16, about two kilometres north of the small community of Dafoe.

Dafoe is about a two-hour drive east of Saskatoon.

First responders attended the scene, where the truck and semi collided.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the truck, was declared deceased by paramedics at the scene. She has been identified as a 53-year-old woman from North Vancouver, according to a statement from Wynyard RCMP.

Her family has been notified, police said.

The semi driver was taken to hospital with “non-life-threatening” injuries.

Highway 16 was closed during the initial investigation but has since reopened.

A collision reconstructionist from Saskatchewan RCMP attended the scene.

Wynyard RCMP said an investigation into the crash continues in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
