North Vancouver RCMP said Tuesday they are investigating the appearance of stickers promoting white supremacy in the Central Lonsdale neighbourhood in late January.

Local Mounties said that on Jan. 27 they were made aware of "several large white stickers posted on poles, fences and signs covered with English text representing ignorant and discriminatory ideology against ethnic diversity."

The large stickers would sometimes be near a smaller, rectangular sticker with a QR code and web address.

Promoting hate propaganda has no place in our community, and these ideologies are not representative of our community, Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, media relations officer for the North Vancouver RCMP, stated in a press release. We remain committed to ensuring North Vancouver is a safe and inclusive place for everyone.

Details about the stickers are not being shared to prevent promoting the messaging, Sahak said.

He added that "a number" of the stickers were removed.

"We don't know what the intention is, but it could be a criminal offence under the criminal code of Canada for wilfully promoting hatred," Sahak said to the North Shore News.

Police are asking the public for their help in finding out who put up the stickers.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file #2025-1856. Those who want to provide information but remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
