The final and tallest tower in the massive Seylynn Village development on Mountain Highway and Fern Street will soon begin rising from the ground.

District of North Vancouver council approved development permits for Seylynn’s Apex tower Monday night.

When the mixed-use, 274-unit, 32-storey tower is completed, it will be the tallest on the North Shore.

The entire 790-unit project received rezoning approval by council in 2012. As long as a project meets the approved zoning, council does not have discretion to deny a building permit. But those who were on council in 2012 and voted for its approval at that time gave the project a fresh endorsement for good measure Monday night.

The district negotiated for 70 of the units to be below-market rentals and the developer extended Keith Road to the Fern Street overpass as part of the agreement.

“I’m quite happy to support this and quite frankly, I really appreciate the design,” said Coun. Doug MacKay-Dunn.
