Dear Editor:
I just read your article about the lack of toilets at Phibbs. I am currently living in France (I like to read the North Shore News and hear about home.)
Most train stations here have clean bathrooms because they contract out to companies to have staff present throughout the day. I call them Mme Pipi. They clean and monitor things.
Going to the toilet costs one to two Euros, or 1.5 Swiss Francs in Switzerland. All payments are by tap card, no cash most of the time.
The bathrooms are always clean, safe and pleasant. There are always two staff present. Such pay toilets exist at other locations such as malls and public gardens and parks.
The unmonitored public ones are hit and miss, depending on where it is and how busy.
I wonder if riders would pay to go, so to speak.
