For those looking for North Shore summer fun, West Vancouver will host the 34th edition of the Harmony Arts Festival from Friday, Aug. 2 to Sunday, Aug. 11.
Presented by Odlum Brown Limited, this 10-day community event promises a range of attractions for both adults and children of all ages. As many as 50 singers and musical bands, waterfront galleries, and open-air tents featuring multimedia works have promised to share the very best that West Vancouver has to offer.
Each day features a roster of live concerts, which will play on the RE/MAX Garden East Stage and Beedie West Stage at Millennium Park (east of the Silk Purse Arts Centre). The music usually starts in the early afternoon and runs until 10 p.m. For the full schedule, visit the Harmony Arts website. All performances at the festival are free to the public.
There will be art markets with artists selling products, including ceramics, glass, jewelry, leather, painting, photography, textiles, and woodcraft, as well as the Artspeaks tent for a stimulating lineup of artist talks and art demonstrations. Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) artist Xwalacktun and other talented carvers will demonstrate the techniques of carving masks and other pieces.
This year’s featured artist, Himikalas Pam Baker, will showcase her latest fashion collections along the Ambleside Pier-turned-runway.
In addition to enjoying the arts, Harmony Arts Festival is the perfect space to mingle with longtime locals, meet new neighbours, and connect with art enthusiasts of all ages on the beautiful waterfront.
