The Coho Festival is making its return to West Vancouver’s Ambleside Park on Sept. 8, after a one-year hiatus, and now under the fresh direction of a new director, David Jones.
Organized by the long-established, volunteer-driven, and environmentally focused Coho Society, the festival celebrates nature’s annual miracle of salmon returning to North Shore rivers and streams.
On the second Sunday of September, the day-long festival will feature the famous Coho Salmon Barbecue, the Coho Garden, the Stewardship Zone, the Kids Park, the Main Stage, and the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) Village, all of which aim to raise awareness about salmon conservation and environmental protection.
The festival seeks to raise funds to support the vital work of North Shore stewardship groups in restoring habitat and supporting populations of salmon and other aquatic species.
Through the society’s dedication, more than $750,000 has been channelled into various projects on the North Shore, making a significant impact on the sustainability and well-being of these ecosystems over the years.
These results would not be possible without the dedication of many volunteers and the generosity of sponsors. In light of the vital role that volunteers and sponsors play, the organizers are reaching out to the community for volunteers to help ensure the success of this year’s event.
