Those people are self-isolating at home and are recovering, according to a statement released by health officials. They have not worked in clinical areas at Lions Gate Hospital.
Vancouver Coastal Health medical health officers are investigating the source of the transmission and are following up with staff who may have had close contact those people, according to the health authority.
As of today, out of an abundance of caution, Lions Gate Hospital is restricting visitor access to family members of patients only and will be posting signs to notify staff, patients and visitors to the hospital.
Patient access to Lions Gate Hospital is not being restricted but some walk-in patients will be contacted ahead of their appointments for symptom screening, according to the health authority.
Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer, are expected to address the latest cases of coronavirus at Lions Gate Hospital when they speak to media later this afternoon.
