Wendy & Lisa perform “Are You My Baby?” on the Soul Train TV show in 1988. They also did "Lolly Lolly" on the broadcast.
Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman (briefly known as Girl Bros.) began working with Prince in the early 1980s and were part of his band The Revolution, including the Purple Rain era, before branching out on their own. They will perform with the reformed Revolution at the Phillips Backyard Weekender in Victoria B.C. the weekend of July 20-22.
Last week previously unseen rehearsal footage of Prince & The Revolution from the summer of 1984 was released on video. This was the room “at Flying Cloud Drive Warehouse in Eden Prairie, Minnesota that Prince created and committed to tape one of his most beloved and iconic compositions, which six years later would become a worldwide hit for Sinead O’Connor. Prince’s original studio version of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ is presented here for the first time. Video directed by Andrea Gelardin and Ruth Hogben.”
