Stephen Stills and Judy Collins perform “Someday Soon” on a 1990 TV show The Inside Track with Graham Nash.

Collins recorded "Someday Soon," written by Ian Tyson, on her 1968 album, Who Knows Where The Time Goes? Produced by David Anderle in Los Angeles for Elektra Records the nine-song recording featured many compositions from Canadian songwriters including Tyson, Rolf Kempf and two from Leonard Cohen, "Story of Isaac" and "Bird on the Wire." Collins released her own countrified version of the latter song before Cohen's came out. Session players on the Collins record included Buddy Emmons (pedal steel guitar), James Burton (dobro, electric guitar), Jim Gordon (drums), Chris Etheridge (bass), Van Dyke Parks (keyboards), Michael Sahl (keyboards), Michael Melvoin (keyboards, the father of Wendy Melvoin, a member of Prince's Revolution "Purple Rain" band) and Stephen Stills (guitar, bass). Another Canadian almost made the cut as well - Collins recorded a version of Joni Mitchell's "Chelsea Morning" during the sessions but left it off the album, releasing it as a single instead with the murder ballad "Pretty Polly" on the B side.

Originally slated to play in Vancouver tonight Stills and Collins have rescheduled their Vogue Theatre show for Oct. 5. Tickets at Ticketfly.com & Red Cat Records.
