Sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell named their southern blues band Larkin Poe, after their great, great, great, great-grandfather, who was a cousin of that Gothic master of the macabre, Edgar Allan Poe.
Larkin Poe recorded Son House’s “Preachin’ Blues” for their 2017 album, Peach. They’ve also done a cover of Son House’s tune “Don’t You Mind People Grinnin’ In Your Face” for their “Tip o’ The Hat” video series where they perform favourite songs from other artists. Larkin Poe’s latest album, Venom & Faith, was released in November 2018 via Tricki-Woo Records. The duo's recordings and videos feature a seamless mix of original tunes and country blues. They dig into the same musical roots as Hendrix, Zeppelin, et al but with an entirely unique perspective. They play the Main Stage on Friday, July 19 at 8:40 p.m. For more information and tickets visit thefestival.bc.ca.
