The 28th annual Persian New Year celebrations at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver kicked off March 13 and included live music, food, dance performances, local vendors and the highly popular fire jumping event.
The Persian New Year, also known as Norouz, officially commences March 20 but festivities are held well before then.
The festival is based on traditions regarding the last Wednesday of the Persian calendar known as Charashanbe Suri, which traditionally marks the first day of spring and the start of the new year of the Persian calendar.
