Vancouver may be in for greyer days — but a sunny weekend is on the horizon

Periods of rain and gusts of wind night be on tap to start April.

Is Mother Nature likely to play a prank on Vancouver's weekly weather forecast?

Let's hope not, because the reward at the end of the first week of April could be a brighter, sunnier spring weekend.

V.I.A.'s Weatherhood is predicting a 30 to 40 per cent chance of showers across the city, depending on which neighbourhood residents call home.

Those living in the eastern neighbourhoods of Trout Lake, Strathcona and Hastings-Sunrise may be in for slightly more rain than others in the amount of 10 mm by Wednesday, April 2.

But the communities may also experience the warmest temperatures, reaching between 12 and 15 C by Thursday.

The mercury, according to Weatherhood, could drop to around 5 C overnight across Vancouver.

Downtown Centre, and areas off the water like Stanley Park, False Creek, Jericho and UBC, may experience chillier conditions to near 0 C with cloudy, grey skies hovering over today and tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a mixed bag is expected for South Vancouver and its surrounding neighbourhoods.

Nearly 35 per cent chance of rain is predicted to fall tomorrow, but the sun could peek through the clouds on and off and bring the temperature up to as high as 12 C.

Wind speeds may vary across the city between five and 10 km/h, all likely gusting to the east and northeast directions.
