TORONTO — Late musician Robbie Robertson will share memories of his enduring friendship with filmmaker Martin Scorsese in an upcoming memoir.
Penguin Random House Canada says it's marking November to publish "Insomnia," a posthumous second memoir from Robertson that explores "the rock legend’s wild ride collaborating with the iconic filmmaker."
Robertson and Scorsese shared a long creative partnership that spanned four decades.
Their first collaboration was on the influential "The Last Waltz" concert film, which featured Robertson's the Band in their final performance at the Winterland Ballroom on Thanksgiving 1976.
Robertson produced the music for many of Scorsese's films, including "Raging Bull," "Casino" and "The Irishman." Most recently, they worked together on 2023 film "Killers of the Flower Moon," for which they both received Oscar nominations.
The publisher says the book will brush past some of the Hollywood personalities that coloured both of their lives, including Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, Sophia Loren and Liza Minelli.
Robertson died in August 2023 after what his publicist described at the time as "a long illness."
"Insomnia" is set to be released on Nov. 11. It's Robertson's second memoir following his 2016 book "Testimony."
