Getting older shouldn’t have to mean letting go of your sense of independence and comfort. Shylo Home Healthcare is dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality home care services in the Lower Mainland, offering a comprehensive range of solutions for individuals seeking personalized care.

“We provide autonomy,” says president and CEO Margot Ware RN BScN GNC(C)

This year, Shylo Home Healthcare is celebrating its 45th anniversary and continuing to match seniors with experienced Caregivers who provide compassionate Home Support to clients across the Lower Mainland.

Care that changes when life does

Life presents new challenges at every stage, which is why Shylo Home Healthcare adapts to each client’s evolving needs to enhance quality of life and health outcomes. Unlike services with frequent staff rotations, Shylo ensures continuity by providing dedicated caregivers trained in both medical and non-medical support, fostering long-term relationships with clients.

“If they need a ride to an appointment or procedure, we can take care of that. If they need companionship, housekeeping, shopping, meal preparation or personal care, we do all of the above,” Ware listed. “[Clients] don't have to have four or five different companies in their home when Shylo can do it all.”

“The challenge is Canadians want to stay in their  homes as they age, but the government’s not really supporting those people,” says Ware, adding that available options in B.C., such as Assisted Living, are often too expensive and out of reach for many.

A business that’s personal

Years after nurse Betty Brown founded the company, Ware was seeking care for her mother, who had a terminal illness and found Shylo Home Healthcare. She says the care her mother received made her realize, “This is what I need to do for the rest of my life.” Ware went on to become a Registered Nurse, eventually taking over the company when Brown retired and later cared for Brown herself when the founder faced her own terminal illness. “A very proud full-circle moment,” she says.

To Ware, the business is personal, pointing out that what truly sets the company apart is its ownership and operation by a Registered Nurse, bringing a unique level of expertise and care.

“If you're going to be in the nursing business, we think you should be nurses.”
Today, Shylo Home Healthcare is one of the longest-running home care companies in the Lower Mainland and has been recognized by several local awards.

Whether individuals require support in a family home or alongside an acute care bed, Shylo Home Healthcare is dedicated to providing trusted, professional care for seniors.
