It is interesting that neither the District of North Vancouver or the RCMP have much of an appetite to deal with speeding traffic. This is a broader problem in the community. Capilano Road, especially from the suspension bridge to Grouse Mountain, has but one speed limit sign; 50 km/h. The stretch from the "S bend" to Montroyal is a racetrack. To see a driver travelling at under 60 would be memorable. There has been a dearth of speed traps over the years so drivers travel with no fear of consequence for their excessive speeding.
Increased traffic to Grouse Mountain has probably been a major factor in this trend of lawless driving.
Your article quoted the district official as saying that traffic calming is not applied to feeder routes. Does that mean an unwillingness to even post speed limit signs? The evidence certainly looks like it!
Grouse Mountain and the suspension bridge could certainly be more forthright in reminding their customers that the speed limit is 50 km/h. The district should be more proactive in installing various methods to reduce the speed. Finally the RCMP should have an aggressive speed trap campaign in the neighbourhood and especially on Capilano Road.
I am sure the community would be pleased to supply the doughnuts.
