Should locals get the first chance to buy?

Earlier this week North Vancouver District council voted to ask staff to begin drawing up policy asking developers of new residential developments to give North Shore residents exclusive buying rights for the first 60 days.

Earlier this week North Vancouver District council voted to ask staff to begin drawing up policy asking developers of new residential developments to give North Shore residents exclusive buying rights for the first 60 days. Giving locals first access is seen as a win in many corners, as many people are seemingly pushed out due to not being able to snap up new condos fast enough. Detractors, however, might point out that a locals-first policy doesn’t address another issue: already sky-high housing prices. What do you think?
