Share your vision on the future of the city

Dear Editor: Shaping a great city is like creating a sculpture. You need a vision and a well-thought out working plan. And there are times when you need to pause, step back and reassess, to make sure you're still on track to achieving your vision.

Dear Editor:

Shaping a great city is like creating a sculpture. You need a vision and a well-thought out working plan. And there are times when you need to pause, step back and reassess, to make sure you're still on track to achieving your vision.

This is one such time for the City of North Vancouver. The city is in the midst of reassessing and updating its official community plan, a comprehensive guide for future development. This coming Saturday, the City Shaping Critical Issues Workshop will be the last public engagement event in the OCP process. It's your last chance, as a city resident, to help shape your community's future rather than let it be decided for you.

Do you have an opinion as to how the city should evolve, in terms of land use and population density, transportation and services? What are your thoughts on economic development?

Financial sustainability? The North Shore environment?

Bring your ideas to the Royal Canadian Legion, 123 West 15th St. this Saturday from 1 to 3: 30 p.m. Roundtable discussions will be held on these and other topics that are so critically important to the life you lead and the neighbourhood in which you lead it.

A great work of art may come from one person's vision, but our city should be shaped by a thousand - not just by city hall and the wellconnected few.

Our group, North Van City Voices, is concerned that the options presented for consideration at previous City Shaping workshops were not balanced, but were instead tilted towards significant increases in density. Bring your independent voice to the table on March 31 and have a real say in your city's future.
