Dear Editor,
Re: Port approves Seaspan drydock expansion on North Van waterfront
I am flabbergasted to see the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has approved the expansion of Seaspan’s dry dock operations in front of The Shipyards.
As the Port of Vancouver is only interested in increasing revenues, this decision in no way represents an impartial decision. As a business owner in Lower Lonsdale and supporter of The Shipyards – it’s one of the best things to come to North Vancouver in my memory – this decision shows a total disdain for the local community. Excuse my language, but it says “F.U.”
The port has the power to do anything it wants.
I have responded repeatedly to surveys on this proposal and little has changed with each version. The North Shore News has it wrong when it says just neighbours are disappointed. This is going to affect everyone who visits The Shipyards and, for some, become a reason to visit less frequently.
