Dear Editor:
Re: Asbestos-related Work Site Violations on the Rise, Aug. 23 news story.
As the daughter of a dearly loved and will-forever-be-missed father who died of mesothelioma, I tear up at the thought of another hard-working citizen being diagnosed with mesothelioma. As WorkSafeBC stipulates, “not only is it a right, it is a responsibility to refuse unsafe work.”
Anyone who doesn’t refuse to work with such an insidious material as asbestos, I implore them to please speak up and do so. My father worked with asbestos as an insulator for 25-plus years.
He was diagnosed decades later and went through a very slow and painful death. Nobody deserves that.
