Dear Editor:
On March 10, I came out of London Drugs on Lonsdale and unfortunately had a misstep while getting to my car parked on Lonsdale.
In seconds, I was flat on my back and I knew I had broken something serious. What followed was the wonderful show of humanity and caring that made me feel very lucky that I live in this community.
I couldn’t move, and quite a number of people bent down to ask if they could help. Richard White got a blanket from his vehicle and stayed nearby until I was taken away by ambulance. One gentleman was driving north up Lonsdale, pulled to stop and when told what happened, called 911. Within minutes, a firetruck arrived with medics and after they assessed the situation, an ambulance arrived and I was taken to Lions Gate Hospital.
I want to thank everyone who came to help - I was touched by their kindness, and generosity of spirit to help a neighbour.
I had fractured my right hip and had surgery for a replacement by Dr. Jando and his capable staff. I want to thank the firemen, the paramedics, Lions Gate Hospital and all the staff, especially Daisy, who tended to my needs.
