What is the single biggest challenge facing the school district and how will you achieve a solution? The biggest challenge SD44 has is declining enrolment and reduced funding caused by competing private schools and neighbouring districts, we have the lowest enrolment in public school in the province. I would like to see more funding reach the students through the schools and less spent on the head office.
What are your thoughts on the province’s new curriculum? It is hard for some to leave the letter grades, we must modernize with more technology, making school more relevant to compete in a global economy.
Why do we need a school board when so much is dictated by the province? A school is a reflection of our unique community values, which in North Vancouver is the highest standard of education available, not a homogenized, basic, provincial standard.
