Is the present council effectively managing growth in the municipality? No. West Van, like many governments, often reacts to issues when they arise rather anticipate them and act on a proactive basis. Housing options, traffic congestion, Ambleside/Marine Drive revitalization and cost control are critical areas which the municipality has not addressed in a timely fashion. Residents then pay the price.

Should West Vancouver take steps to curb vacant homes, housing speculation and/or foreign ownership and if so, how? No. The provincial government has addressed this issue. Unfortunately there are a number of unintended consequences of doing so that should be dealt with.

What is your vision for the Ambleside waterfront? The waterfront should remain accessible to the public with links to the business district along Marine Drive. Additional parking must be added. Buildings need upgrading. Arts/ craft facilities should form centrepiece of redevelopment. Upgrading Ambleside waterfront and business district is example of failure to address issues on a timely basis.

What are your priorities if elected?

Cut costs/reduce fees/taxes
develop housing options for residents
upgrade Marine Drive business district
act proactively
develop short and long term solutions to traffic congestion
