What is the single biggest challenge facing the school district and how will you achieve a solution? Contract negotiations are the biggest short term issue we face. In 2019, Government will enter negotiations with the BCTF and I believe we need to negotiate fair wages and working conditions for our educators while ensuring we have the flexibility to ensure optimal classroom conditions for all our students.
What are your thoughts on the province’s new curriculum? The revised curriculum ensures our students continue to have relevant and engaging learning experiences and are prepared for an ever changing world.
Why do we need a school board when so much is dictated by the province? Locally elected boards have the flexibility and agility to prioritize and respond to the needs of our students while reflecting the priorities of our community.
