Each year, number crunchers at BC Stats take the most recent available census data and plug data from MSP registrations and BC Hydro hookups into a regression analysis that produces up-to-date population estimates as of the previous July. The analysis does not factor in the birth rate, death rate or migration, all of which sway population numbers.
