HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats promoted assistant coaches Tommy Condell and Mark Washington and signed both to contract extensions through the 2023 season Tuesday.
The two have added assistant head-coaching duties to their job titles. Condell will also serve as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach while Washington remains Hamilton's defensive coordinator.
"Our foundation begins with quality people," Orlondo Steinauer, Hamilton's head coach and president of football operations, said in a statement. "Tommy and Mark are exceptional people who not only deserve these extensions and promotions but without a doubt have earned them.
“Being able to retain them will not only have a tremendous affect the football field but throughout the organization. They are tireless workers and experts in their fields, who add great value to our players and to me personally."
Condell is in his second stint with Hamilton and sixth season overall (2013-15, 2019-present). He has helped the Ticats reach the Grey Cup four times (2013, '14, '19, '21).
Washington is entering his third season as Hamilton's defensive coordinator.
