OTTAWA — The Canadian Press reported on Dec. 11 that according to Plug'n Drive, an Ontario-based non-profit that promotes the use of electric vehicles, only four zero-emission SUV models are currently available in Canada. None of them has a price tag low enough to qualify for the federal rebate program for electric vehicles.
The story may have left the impression that electric crossover vehicles, some of which are considered smaller-sized SUVs, do not qualify for the rebate.
In fact, Plug'n Drive lists more than two-dozen battery and plug-in hybrid crossovers. Nine are priced low enough to qualify for the rebate.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 14, 2021.
