West Vancouver’s Jake Christiansen got some good news earlier this month, signing a three-year entry-level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The 20-year-old defenceman played parts of five seasons with the WHL’s Everett Silvertips, putting up 152 points in 297 games with a plus-84 rating. Christiansen took his game to a new level this season, racking up 50 points with a +29 rating in 38 games before the season was brought to an end by the COVID-19 crisis earlier this month.

Christiansen recorded six multi-goal games and 15 multi-point performances this season despite not suiting up for the Silvertips until December. He was the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 8 after recording five goals and three assists in his first three games of the season. You can see some slick highlights here.
Prior to heading to Everett Christiansen played with West Vancouver’s Hollyburn Huskies and the Vancouver NW Giants of the BC Major Midget League. Undrafted by NHL clubs, Christiansen made his pro debut at the start of the 2019-20 season, playing in nine games with the AHL’s Stockton Heat.

His contract with Columbus, which was confirmed on March 4, kicks in at the start of the 2020-21 season.
