North Vancouver baseball coaches to compete on Amazing Race Canada

Professional athletes Tyson Gillies and Michael Crouse run a popular baseball training school with facilities in North Van, Vancouver and Cloverdale

When it came to fielding competitors for the latest season of Amazing Race Canada, two familiar faces to the North Shore baseball community stepped up to the plate.

On Tuesday, the show’s producers revealed that Tyson Gillies and Michael Crouse, co-owners of Travail Baseball Development, will be looking to make a home run of the popular reality competition series.

Both are professional baseball players who were previously drafted by Major League Baseball teams, playing in the minor leagues and in international tournaments.

Gillies was born in North Vancouver, growing up playing competitive hockey before starting baseball at age 11. He was on Team Canada when it won baseball gold at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, where he was the starting centerfielder.

Born in New Westminster, Crouse was on Team Canada when it won gold at the 2011 Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, and also played for the national team at the 2017 World Baseball Classic. Previously, he played for the North Shore Twins.

Now, the pair run a training school for young baseball players, with locations in North Vancouver, East Van and Cloverdale.

Dubbing Gillies and Crouse the “Baseball Bros,” news of their inclusion on the upcoming season of the Amazing Race Canada was announced on social media. The show premiers July 2 on CTV.
