IT was a purse-snatching gone awry Thursday, May 30 when a would-be thief forcibly grabbed a purse from a ¬¬¬woman at a bus stop near Lonsdale Avenue and 15th Street, only to be stopped by witnesses and the victim herself.

The alleged robber took the purse at 12:30 p.m. and ran across the street only to be confronted by witnesses and the victim.

He then dropped the purse and ran towards Chesterfield Avenue, where police, responding to a 9-1-1 call from a witness, caught the suspect.

The victim left the scene before police had a chance to speak with her.

We were told by witnesses that the victim has her purse back and wasnt injured in the robbery, Cpl. Doug Trousdell, North Vancouver RCMP spokesman, said in a media release. But we would like to follow up with her to make sure that shes alright and to get more information about the incident.

The victim or anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact Cpl. Gary Goller of the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311.
