THE FOLLOWING is a selection of volunteer opportunities from various community organizations, made available through

Volunteer North Shore, a service of North Shore Community Resources Society.

Volunteers: ImpactBC is looking for volunteers to work with health-related organizations. After three to four hours of training, the volunteer will choose from a variety of activities in order to participate at the level of time and involvement they wish.

Activity Volunteer: Positive, outgoing volunteers capable of working a few hours a week are needed at Churchill House, an assisted living facility in the Lonsdale area. Volunteers are needed to help with bus outings and special events.

Secretary: The Friends of the City of North Vancouver Library has an opening on its board for someone who loves books and enjoys writing. A volunteer secretary who has basic computer skills and knowledge of secretarial duties is needed. The volunteer needs to be available to attend the Friends' regularly scheduled board meetings on the third Friday of each month at 3 p.m. at the North Vancouver City Library.

Special Events Helper: Lynn Valley Seniors' Association is looking for a special events helper to assist with set-up, cleanup, selling goods, preparing/serving food, decorating and all other components of a variety of events.

General Resource Centre Volunteer: A volunteer is needed to help out in the library at the North Shore Women's Centre, organizing resource materials and helping with the general upkeep of the centre. Volunteer will also help with faxing, filing, and photocopying and assist with special events.
