Students and staff at West Vancouver’s Ecole Sentinel Secondary were evacuated after the school received a bomb threat Monday morning.
According to West Vancouver Police, staff at the high school alerted police of a bomb threat that had been called in to the high school front office by phone just after 9 a.m.
The person claimed multiple bombs had been planted on schools grounds, according to police.
Students were sent home for the day, according to West Vancouver Schools and no one was allowed inside the school, while two bomb-sniffing dogs with the Metro Vancouver Transit Police checked for explosives.
That check turned up no trace of explosives, according to West Vancouver Police spokesman Const. Kevin Goodmurphy, who added: "We can now confirm that the bomb threat at Sentinel secondary school was a hoax."
The investigation into the source of the threat is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to contact West Vancouver police or call Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
