WEST Vancouver police are wagging their fingers at some lead-footed luxury car owners after they pulled over a 'pack' of four Porsches on the Sea to Sky corridor. The cars, they say, were going as much as 50 kilometres per hour over the limit.
A West Vancouver officer who was patrolling the highway early Aug. 4 clocked the vehicles reaching speeds of between 125 and 131 kilometres an hour in an 80-zone.
The cars were among about 50 Porsches driving in a group, according to Cpl. Fred Harding, a spokesman for the WVPD.
The drivers are members of a Porsche club who, it turns out, had been warned by the same officer just one week before being pulled over.
"He saw them out there at a similar time a week later and came across the same group driving through there again, but this time they were doing excessive speeds," said Harding.
The four drivers, all from Vancouver and between the ages of 24 and 47, were given $368 tickets. Their cars were impounded for seven days at a cost of $22 per day.
