North Vancouver City Fire Department members quickly doused a truck fire before it could spread, Sunday night.
Crews were called to the 500 block of 28th Street around 10 p.m. after neighbours noticed the vehicle in flames.
Video from the scene shows the truck was parked near a fence, trees and a parked Tesla, but Fire Chief Greg Schalk said the fire did not spread.
“We had a lot of resources there. We put the fire out. We assured it was safe,” he said.
The fire did not appear to be suspicious, Schalk said. With electrical systems and combustible fluids, vehicle fires are known to happen, and rarely is the exact cause ever found, he added.
“Vehicle fires are really difficult to investigate in terms of cause and origin, unless it's a suspicious type of activity,” he said. “By the time an investigator shows up, either the vehicle is badly damaged or the extent of what we've done to mitigate it makes it pretty difficult.”
After the blaze was out, fire crews left North Vancouver RCMP in charge of the scene to have the burnt out truck removed.
