Municipal crews were kept busy Monday morning dealing with the impact of an intense rain storm that hit the North Shore starting Sunday and continuing through Monday morning.
A heavy rainfall warning was issued for the Lower Mainland for Monday by Environment Canada, with warnings that heavy downpours could cause flash floods, pooling on roads and localized flooding, as well as washouts near creeks and culverts.
Between midnight Saturday and noon Monday, more than 90 millimetres of rain had fallen over parts of the North Shore.
One North Vancouver rain station on the waterfront typically receives 240.5 mm for the entire month of January but had already received 301.7 mm by noon on Monday, said Lisa West, Environment Canada meteorologist.
More rain is forecast for the rest of the week.
