A North Vancouver construction flagger is being treated for serious injuries after she was run over by a dump truck Wednesday morning.

The 31-year-old was working at a road construction site on Mountain Highway at Chamberlain Drive around 9 a.m. when she was hit by the truck that was slowly backing into position, according to North Vancouver RCMP.

The woman ended up pinned under the truck's rear wheels. She was later rushed to Lions Gate Hospital for treatment.

The RCMP's traffic unit and Worksafe B.C. investigators remained on the scene Wednesday afternoon to determine what happened. The site's safety procedures and an inspection of the dump truck will be part of the investigation.

The woman has transferred to Vancouver General Hospital's burn unit for treatment of skin loss, according to police. The prognosis has improved significantly, they said.
