Whipping winds and fall storms continued to wreak havoc on the North Shore this week, knocking trees down onto roads, lamp posts, powerlines and even houses.
Cleanup is underway on 17th Street south of Inglewood Avenue where a large tree fell onto a house on Tuesday, also damaging a Range Rover in the adjacent driveway. Images from the scene show the trunk of a large coniferous tree crashed through a house, with considerable damage to the structure.
A spokesperson for the District of West Vancouver confirmed that a tree came down on private property and became entangled in hydro lines on Nov. 19. A district traffic crew was dispatched for traffic control until BC Hydro was able to attend. West Vancouver police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
Wild weather also dealt damage in the district of North Vancouver Friday morning, with a falling tree causing a domino effect, knocking a light pole across the westbound Highway 1 exit heading to Lynn Valley Road. The damage was tidied up and the exit re-opened before noon.
Earlier in the week a fallen tree put on a fiery show near Ellis Street in North Vancouver. A video posted on social media Tuesday showed a tree resting on powerlines with flames erupting in the branches.

The damages isn’t done yet, with power currently knocked out for more than 1,200 customers in the Dollarton/Deep Cove area, including parts of Seymour Golf and Country Club. A BC Hydro update posted at 3:56 p.m. Friday said that a crew was on site but gave no cause of the outage or a timeline for its repair.
