Time Traveller: Clearing the way for North Vancouver's first Little League field

With Litttle League playoffs set to start on the North Shore, here's a look at where it all started in the early 1950s

2023 marks the 30-year anniversary of Lynn Valley representing Canada at the Little League World Series, but when did Little League start in North Vancouver?

In early 1952, the North Vancouver Junior Chamber of Commerce applied to Williamsport for a Little League franchise, and within a few weeks they had opened registration for a four-team league on the North Shore.

The photo above shows a group of men in 1947 clearing the grounds for what would later become the first Little League ballpark in North Vancouver. The Little League Stadium at Confederation Park opened officially in 1953.
