West Vancouver police are warning the public after impounding three drivers’ vehicles for excessive speeding.
According to statement from investigators, an officer doing routine speed checks early Wednesday morning on Highway 1 near Westmount Road clocked three drivers travelling in a “tight pack” at 178 kilometres per hour.
With the help of a second officer, all three drivers were pulled over. Each received violation tickets for excessive speeding and had their vehicles taken to the impound lot for seven days.
The release did not share any other details about the drivers or their vehicles.
The incident came amid a particularly deadly spate on B.C.’s roads with 25 people killed in just 10 days.
“This type of behaviour is incredibly dangerous and puts members of the public at risk”, said Sgt. Chris Bigland. “Given the recent spate of tragic accidents, both here in West Vancouver and throughout the province, we are imploring drivers to obey the speed limit and drive responsibly.”
