From crafts to public skating, there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy

Having trouble thinking of activities to do on Family Day? Here are some events and activities to check out across the North Shore Feb. 17.

North Vancouver

Exhibits and activities at Museum of North Vancouver (MONOVA)

MONOVA is offering a day full of fun activities for the family to unleash their inner artist, including mural painting, clay making, wool weaving and pottery demos alongside access to galleries they have on display. People can register on Eventbrite or drop in at the museum.

Where: MONOVA, 115 Esplanade W

When: Feb. 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities are scheduled at specific times throughout the day.

Cost: Pay-what-you-can

Family Day skate at The Shipyards

Practice your figure eights and grab a Beaver Tail with the family at the public skate at The Shipyards. There will also be kid’s activities provided by Ava Music.

When: Feb. 17, noon to 4 p.m.

Where: Skate Plaza at The Shipyards, 125 Victory Ship Way

Cost: Free for those bringing their own skates. Skate rentals (limited quantities) cost $7 for adults and $5 for kids

Spend time at Grouse Mountain

Families can do a little more than skiing over the long weekend. Grouse Mountain is hosting various activities from now until Monday, including owl talks at the skating pond, craft station at hiwus Feasthouse, kids movies at The Theatre in the Sky and more.

They are also holding a self-guided scavenger hunt where people have the chance to win a family annual pass. More details can be found on Grouse Mountain’s website for activity times.

When: Feb. 17, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: Grouse Mountain, 6400 Nancy Greene Way

Cost: Regular admission. Free mountain admission and lift tickets for kids under 12

Tubing and tobogganing on Mount Seymour

Enjoy a little thrill with the family tubing and tobogganing on North Vancouver’s Mount Seymour Monday. Those interested in tubing must be 48 inches (122 cm) or taller and ski boots are not allowed in the tube park. There are no restrictions for tobogganing.

When: Feb. 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Mount Seymour, 1700 Mount Seymour Road

Cost: Tubing, $33 for non-season pass holders for two hours. Tobogganing, $15 for two hours for non-season pass holders.

Love Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge

See millions of twinkling lights and celebrate family love at the Love Lights at the popular Capilano Suspension Bridge. Families can enjoy live music at the Loggers’ Grill entertainment stage each evening, photo ops and food like a chocolate molten cake. More details can be found on the park's website

When: Now until Feb. 23, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, 3735 Capilano Road

Cost: Price of admission

West Vancouver

Balloon animals and face painting at Cypress Mountain

Have the kiddos enjoy getting their favourite animal made from balloons and creative face painting at the Cypress Creek Lodge Monday. There will also be a fireworks display on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.

When: Feb. 17, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Cypress Mountain, 6000 Cypress Bowl Road

Cost: Free

Free public skate drop in

There will be a free public skate at the West Vancouver Community Centre Monday afternoon. Pre-registration is not required, and it’s first-come, first-served.

When: Feb. 17, 1:15 to 2:45 p.m.

Where: West Vancouver Community Centre, Atrium, 2121 Marine Drive

Cost: Free
