POLICE are hunting for a young man wanted for allegedly harassing and sexually touching young women in the Edgemont/ Delbrook area.

On five separate occasions between Aug. 10 and 15, the suspect was seen following women in the neighbourhood, according to investigators. In each case he tried to strike up "inappropriate conversation" and, in three cases, touched victims in a sexual manner, they said.

Police describe the suspect as 15 to 18 years old, short, with a slim build and dark skin. He has curly, black hair, speaks with a foreign accent, and has been seen carrying a North Face backpack, they said.

"The police are concerned for the safety of young women in the area and are appealing to the public for help in identifying and locating this individual," said Cpl. Richard De Jong, a spokesman for the North Vancouver RCMP.

"If anyone is approached by the suspect, they should call 9-1-1 immediately. Always be aware of your surroundings and of those individuals who may present themselves in a suspicious manner."

RCMP say they have stepped up patrols in the area and have called in a crime analyst to help ID the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the North Vancouver detachment at 604-985-1311.
