A Surrey man is facing charges for his involvement in a string of crimes that include a break and enter in West Vancouver.
At around 2 a.m. on Dec. 1, three men driving a stolen Dodge Ram with counterfeit licence plates broke into a garage in the 2200 block of Folkestone Way in West Van, according to a police statement.
A multi-jurisdictional investigation revealed that the suspects were tied to other break-ins and thefts across the Lower Mainland and a “fail to stop for police” in Langley. A suspect was identified, police said, along with two associated homes in Surrey.
On Dec. 5, police executed two simultaneous search warrants in Surrey, locating stolen property, illicit drugs, fraudulent documents and credit cards, stolen credit cards and equipment used to forge documents.
At the first residence, Surrey Police Service said they arrested a man behind the wheel of a stolen jeep, along with eight others who were detained and later released. The stolen Dodge Ram was also found at this location, along with the counterfeit plates, 277 grams of crystal methamphetamine and other stolen items.
At the second home, on the 10200 block of 159A Street, the man suspected of driving the stolen Dodge Ram was found and arrested. Police said they also found break-in tools and more stolen items.
West Vancouver Police Department is recommending a charge against that man, a 44 year old from Surrey, related to his involvement in the West Van break and enter.
Sgt. John McCormack said WVPD takes break ins and thefts very seriously.
“Individuals coming into our district to commit crimes should know that we will work with our partners throughout the Lower Mainland to ensure they are brought to justice,” he said.
WVPD thanked Surrey police and the Metro Vancouver Transit Police Crime Suppression Team for their efforts.
The investigation is ongoing, and WVPD is asking anyone with information to call 604-925-7300, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
